Meet Your B&B Hosts
Alaska Garden Gate B&B hosts Karen and her Siberian Husky, Little Girl, welcome you to the B&B.
Karen Harris started Alaska Garden Gate B&B in 2002 with 5 rooms in her home. Now there are 7 cottages and 5 guest apartments to choose from. She loves hosting guests from all over the world and getting to share Alaska with them. She grew up in Iowa, and before moving to Alaska, she lived and worked in Minneapolis for 10 years as a newspaper and magazine art director.
Karen is active in many local organizations. She is a member of Palmer's Rotary International club and is on the board of the Mat-Su Convention & Visitors Bureau. She is past-president of the Mat-Su B&B Association and is now serving as president of the B&B Association of Alaska.
Little Girl the Husky is now 12 years old and very opinionated about most things. She'll talk to anyone who will listen all about it. She sees it as her personal responsibility to discourage the mooses from eating the fruit trees. As she gets older, she is not patient with people, so if she trots away when we're outside, just let her do her own thing! She'll agree to be petted and sit for photos if she's in the mood that day!
